Cloudflare has introduced cloudflare.pay, a persistent identifier system for AI agents that handle online transactions. Users can reserve human readable addresses such as research.example.cloudflare.pay, allowing merchants to identify the organization behind an agent. The identifiers are linked to cryptographic keys, similar to DNS, but their use will remain optional, with merchants deciding whether to accept unidentified agents. Cloudflare is also developing programmable wallets that let agents pay for APIs, datasets, online services, and computing resources. The system will include a primary Account Wallet controlled by a person or organization and separate Virtual Wallets delegated to individual agents through API keys. Owners will be able to set budgets, transaction limits, and approved merchants, while agents can request additional funds or approval when needed.
