Meta launches parental controls on Threads with limits and insights for protecting teens

Meta is introducing parental supervision features on Threads, expanding its efforts to offer parents more effective ways to guide their teens’ experiences across the company’s platforms. Beginning next week in the United States, parents and guardians using Meta’s Family Center will have access to Threads-specific supervision tools, similar to those currently available for Facebook and Instagram. In addition to Threads’ existing protections, such as private accounts and limited content visibility for teen users, parents will soon be able to decide whether teens under 16 can relax these default settings. These changes are designed to give parents increased oversight without removing built-in safety nets for younger users.
