Raycast launches Glaze, a new AI tool for creating custom desktop apps from prompts

Raycast, the popular launcher and productivity automation app for macOS and Windows, has launched Glaze, its new AI powered tool that lets users create complete desktop apps by describing what they want. After a private beta that began in March, Glaze is now available to everyone and can generate real standalone apps from prompts. You can think of it as a kind of Lovable alternative but for desktop apps, allowing users to describe what they want and then refine the result with a visual editor when the AI output needs more precision. Raycast is positioning Glaze as a way to build custom tools for individuals and teams, instead of relying only on standard software made for broad use cases. Apps created with Glaze run locally on the user’s machine, open like regular desktop programs, and include app icons designed to fit in the dock.
