The tech bros want us to believe AI can be cognitive and make decisions and think, the idea of the singularity. However, the problem is the AI machine doesn’t have all the necessary information. Even if it could scrape every book ever published and scrape the entire internet and load itself up with all the knowledge available in a format AI can digest, that data would only be a tiny fraction of the knowledge needed to be cognitive, to make useful decisions or to create anything new. Human knowledge comes from our experiences which we acquire through our senses. Human experience includes auditory, visual, smells, tastes and feelings both tactile and emotional. AI can’t experience any of that and relies solely on humans explaining our experiences to it. Good decisions include moral and ethical considerations which requires human emotion. AI can mimic emotions but has none and will never have them. AI will never “know” the smell of a rose or the taste of ripe peaches. #ai
