One of the many ironies of my current Internet career (that stormy and discreditable thing, stumbling onward for heaven knows what reason beyond pure habit and time-wasting and "venting") is that even though I've set my face against the #tech sector and "generative #AI", I did study "computer science" at SDSU and got a degree and while I was doing that, I took elective classes in artificial intelligence. Oh I was super into it back in the 1990s; it was one of my science-nerd fondnesses from high school years that had survived the heavy beating we took from the California Institute of Technology.I took two classes from the same old prof—I think I was practically his ONLY student in that 2nd class, which is so weird to me, you'd think the '90s San Diego computer geeks would have been totally into AI—and they stand out as a strange episode almost totally unconnected with my regular CompSci curriculum.
