Group chat app Stoat adds video chat, screen sharing, GIF search, and push notifications

Stoat, the open-source group chat app formerly known as Revolt, has rolled out a major update featuring video chat and screen share across all supported platforms, including desktop, browser, and mobile on both iOS and Android. These updates are available immediately in every voice channel, direct message, and group conversation. Expanding on core communication features, Stoat’s video chat supports an unlimited number of users per call, along with selectable speaker and overview modes. Users can focus on a single camera or return to the group view with a simple click. For screen sharing, there is no cap on how many streams can occur concurrently. Both full-screen and windowed sharing are available, with the option to include or exclude audio. The current screen share stream operates at 720p and 30 frames per second, with higher quality options planned soon.
