People keep talking about AI like it's going to suddenly become sentient and take over the world. I don't really buy that.What worries me a lot more is what's already happening. LLMs scraping public posts from the #Fediverse without people's consent. Companies vacuuming up years of conversations and calling it "training data." That's not some future scenario, it's happening now.AI isn't acting on its own. People built it, people fund it, and people decide where it's used. If we're upset about AI-generated slop flooding the internet, then maybe we should spend less time imagining robot uprisings and more time questioning the companies and decisions behind it.One thing I like about the Fediverse is that people here actually care about things like consent, privacy, and owning their own spaces online.
