As previously reported, Sony plans to stop producing physical discs for new PlayStation games starting in January 2028, with new releases moving to digital formats after that cutoff. New reports now indicate that PlayStation will continue supporting existing physical games after 2028, although that support appears to be limited to reprints of titles released before the deadline. According to Game File, Sony sent a message to publishing partners confirming that they will still be able to place reorders for existing PlayStation disc games. This means games released before January 2028 could still receive new disc print runs after Sony stops producing discs for new titles, depending on publisher demand and retail availability.
