Podman 6.0 brings modernized networking, enhanced Podman Machine, and Quadlet evolution

Podman 6.0 launches as a major update focused on enhancing container management and networking. The release modernizes Podman’s network architecture by transitioning from slirp4netns and iptables to Netavark, Pasta, and nftables, which streamlines maintenance and prepares the groundwork for future features. Experimental Pesto rootless port forwarding has also been introduced, allowing preservation of source IP addresses on custom rootless networks.
