Spent today at the C-Vision Data, AI and CMO Think Tank in Chicago. The day opened on agentic AI and how enterprise architecture has to change when software stops waiting for instructions and starts acting on its own.Then an afternoon panel asked the one question that stuck with me: if AI keeps absorbing the entry-level work, where do tomorrow’s leaders come from?Put those two together and you see the real tension. We’re racing to build systems that make consequential decisions for the business. At the same time, we’re cutting the rung where people learn the judgment to oversee those systems. The junior bench is how someone develops a senior eye. You don’t get there without years of doing the unglamorous work first. Remove that step and you’ve fixed a cost problem today while building a supervision problem for later.As someone who teaches, that one landed.Grateful to C-Vision and everyone who shared so openly.
